Simplicio Headstock Template
Design your own Simplicio-inspired headstock shape with accuracy! Highly accurate headstock drawing with the top undrawn to enable you to create your own signature design. Dimensions are included to make one of the tricker parts of a guitar build a little easier.
The PDF contains three pages:
1: Headstock against grid for ease of alignment with wood, tools, etc.
2: Headstock with measurement details for standard tuning machines and routing.
3: Headstock without grid or measurements for a clean look at the outline.
Designed for 50mm width at the nut, the grid will enable you to widen or reduce the width if another dimension is desired. Note: The top of the headstock is not drawn so you can create your own design. Prints on 8.5x11 paper so you can experiment and get it just right.
For the newer builder, a plan with this level of accuracy can make a critical step easier. I’ve included all measurements and centering lines I would have wanted when I first started building and often found missing in other plans, even from major luthier supply companies. For the more experienced builder, it will be easy to incorporate your own personal construction choices.
