Arnie Berle begins his forward to Patterns, Scales, & Modes for Jazz Guitar with this simple truth. For the past year I have been on a quest for a greater understanding of fretboard harmony, and although my main approach to this study has been through Dan Cosley's Way of the Guitar, I find that Mr. Berle's book is a nice addition from time to time.
